Flip operates his own company, Flip Meyer Media, a consultancy to media groups. Articles are written by him for publications outside South Africa and he advises several US charity organisations on media matters. He also frequently acts as master of ceremonies at various investment seminars and as facilitator of business meetings

He is a media consultant for Chamsa (www.chamsa.org.za), the leading business chamber in South Africa, and other prestigious clients. Flip Meyer. also writes articles for Sake (www.sake.co.za) and Gauteng Business, the publication aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises.

Economist of the Year

Flip Meyer initiated the "Economist of the Year" competition, which is both a benchmark and leading indicator of the South African economy. He remains involved in the organisation of the competition, also providing the logistical planning of the banquet. The "Economist of the Year" banquet is regarded as one of the most important events on the South African financial calendar.
