Flip Meyer is a well-known South African financial journalist with 29 years' experience with Naspers group. Naspers holds international media interests over the globe - in sub-Saharan Africa, Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, the United States, Thailand and China. On January 31, 2005 he resigned his position as financial editor for "New Projects" of Sake, a publication in the Naspers group. Flip now pursues his own interests as a media consultant in South Africa and abroad.
Flip obtained BCom. degree at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, majoring in Marketing, Economics and Accountancy. He subsequently obtained a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Financial Management from the University of Pretoria Graduate School of Business.

1988: FAK Bill Venter prize for contributions to financial journalism
2002: Piet Cillié prize for creativity, the highest honour awarded by Naspers to journalists in this media group
1989-2004: Development of the Economist of the Year competition, organised and produced the banquet now regularly attended by captains of South Africa industry and government leaders
Broadcasting Experience:
Flip has appeared as guest speaker/panellist on numerous Summit TV programmes. He has also hosted "Jou Geldsake", a business programme presented on RadioSonderGrense, an Afrikaans radio station.
He was a finalist in the Mastermind TV competition hosted by Summit TV, the major Southern African business TV station.
Major Projects:
Flip launched the "Economist of the Year" competition in 1989 and has been the driving force behind its expansion. Initially fewer than ten economists entered the competition. Currently more than 30 entrants are evaluated for this prestigious honour. The competition is regarded as the premier competition for economists in South Africa.
In his former Nasper capacity, he was instrumental in creating a financial phone-in service, as well as providing readers of Sake with a cell-phone text message service keeping them updated on the latest news in financial markets.
In collaboration with the University of Pretoria's department of Auditing and Accountancy, he has initiated a new South African competition, the objective of which is to encourage listed companies to become more transparent in the publication of their financial results in the press.
International Exposure:
Flip has attended six annual general meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, where he reported on the proceedings. These meetings were held in Washington DC, Hong Kong, Madrid, Berlin and Toronto.
He has traveled to more than twenty countries and more than ten states in the US.
